We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic molecular biologist and biochemist to be part of a team that is responsible for conducting a range of biological studies directed toward the identification and validation of novel drug targets. Laboratory duties will include full data analysis, reduction and presentation.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and validation of functional assays for novel candidate disease-related targets. The research scientist will implement a program of in vitro and in vivo experiments to determine the biological function of novel genes, develop assays suitable for screening target modulators, and to contribute to the assessment of drug candidates. Responsibilities may also include implementing and conducting additional biochemical, pharmacological, and HTS assays in support of a new drug discovery program.
Knowledge & Education Requirements:
- PhD or MD/PhD in biology, biochemistry, physiology, genetics, pharmacology or related field.
- Strong experience in cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, in vivo models, pharmacology, and/or drug discovery.
- Experience with in vivo models and cardiovascular biology are assets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, good problem solving abilities and a strong publication record are essential.
- Proven abilities to work independently, in team settings, and as a project manager.
