Senior Research Scientist In vivo Pharmacology
Scope of the Position

We seek a neuroscientist to provide leadership for a pain discovery project and to conduct in vivo and ex vivo pharmacology experiments with novel treatments for neuropathic and inflammatory pain.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing in vivo studies related to pain therapies and will supervise a team of research associates to conduct these studies. He or she will also oversee the conduct of existing murine models for efficacy as well as for safety assessments. The level of this appointment will be commensurate with the experience level of the chosen candidate and could be filled at an advanced level with broader responsibility.

Knowledge & Education Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in pharmacology, neuroscience or related field.
  • Postdoctoral training and/or experience establishing animal models to evaluate sensory and motor functionand to quantify pharmacological effects on this function.
  • Expert knowledge of pain mechanisms and neuropharmacology.
  • Drug discovery project experience, especially in working with medicinal chemists and an ADME team.
  • Identifies new opportunities for drug discovery and provides intellectual and technical leadership in accordance with company's strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for laboratory work, good problem solving abilities and dedication to team work.
  • Knowledge of in vivo models to evaluate cardiovascular safety pharmacology is desirable.
