Mohammad Azab, MD, MBA
Mohammad joined Xenon’s board in 2004 and brings more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug development. He is currently CMO for SuperGen and past positions include CEO of Intradigm Corporation, CMO and Executive VP of R&D at QLT Inc., leadership of medical oncology at Sanofi Pharmaceuticals (now Sanofi-Aventis) and leadership of the clinical drug development in oncology at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals (now Astra Zeneca) in the company’s R&D facility in the U.K..
During his career, Mohammad led drug development programs that resulted in the approval and marketing of seven different new chemical entities in the therapeutic areas of oncology, gastroenterology, urology, and ophthalmology including Casodex®, Arimidex®, Faslodex®, Photofrin®, and Visudyne®. Mohammad received his medical degree from Cairo University in 1979. He practiced as a medical oncologist at Institute Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France where he received post-graduate training and degrees from the University of Paris-Sud and the University of Pierre and Marie Curie. Mohammad also holds an MBA degree with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in Canada.
